Continued--In commerce and industries English language infiltrated into the non English speaking zones of the world. It is not at all a fact that the love of the English language attracted them to learn English which has come to be used more as a communication among the non English speaking countries. Yet the commoners in the non English speaking countries were not much interested in learning English. After the end of second world war tourism slowly started climbing up and as twentieth century closed it was found that even from the underdeveloped or developing countries large number of tourists were out to visit foreign countries . In the twenty first century it is not just one way traffic from west to east but includes the other way of traffic as well. A number of countries depend largely on the tourist flow to get their foreign money requirement. The intriguing point is that the tourists from different countries use English language as the medium of communication among themselves. Why not any other language ? Because English language has perforated into the curriculum of most of the countries as being a language of utility, people prefer to use this as the international means of communication.
And finally the spread of English language has been accelerated after the advent of personal computer in which English language is used as the command language. Some of the non English speaking countries which hardly favoured to introduce English language in the past were under constraint to accept to learn English language to enter the computer world. In every field of life be it in commerce and industries, tourism, sports, movies, literary and scientific seminar and workshops at International level English language is the dominant language. It has pushed away other competing languages be it natural or artificial to be the world language .
From all these considerations there are reasons to think that the English language has reached such a stage that it has taken the place of world language . In this connection it is necessary to point out that the English language has no controlling authority like English Academy in consequence of which the consonants and the vowels are pronounced not uniformly and people from different countries take liberty to use it in their own way. Secondly spelling of words is not followed in uniform way. It therefore seems desirable that for a language to be world language there should be least freedom to deviate it from the standards determined by an Academy of English language so that the language may maintain its purity, sanctity, uniformity or otherwise in course of time English as it is now will not remain the same and different language will evolve in the long run.
